Whether you prioritize spending time outdoors or taking a more luxurious RV vacation, there is a campsite that fits your needs. But before you decide to set out on your trip, it’s important to consider all your options, when it comes to choosing the perfect place to park your RV.

Here are a few things to know when picking your RV campsite!

RV Parks and Resorts

This option probably provides the most comfort for travelers. Staying at RV parks and resorts allows you to enjoy clean campsites that often offer full hookups.

Most RV parks also offer extra features that can improve your trip. For example, on-site laundry facilities allow you to wash your clothing during your trip, so you won't need to worry about overpacking. Pools and recreational areas can also offer free entertainment, often hosting events for children, families, or adults.

Additionally, RV parks and resorts are usually in a great location. While they do provide a natural camping experience, you will also be close to a major city or town. These campsites do tend to be the more expensive option, but you can usually get discounts if you stay for an extended period or reserve your spot far enough in advance!

National and State Parks

This option will often provide you with a beautiful, scenic view. After all, these sites were chosen to be preserved because of their natural beauty. Take your camper to a national or state park and enjoy stunning vistas and maybe even some wildlife!

Some campsites will offer extra hookups for your RV but know that not all of them do. If hookups are important to you, be sure that you find a campsite with the ones that you need. The campsite fees for these parks can also tend to be more budget-friendly, so you will want to reserve your spot in advance since these sites tend to fill up fast.

Boondocking

Boondocking puts travelers in the closest proximity to nature. This style of camping involves parking your RV anywhere that camping is legal. You won't find any hookups or campsite amenities, but you will enjoy camping in its more natural form.

Many boondocking sites are run by the Bureau of Land Management, which can be a good starting point. If you choose this option it’s very important to plan to ensure you bring enough supplies.
